Life Drawing
This page explores some of my favourite images created while life drawing. All three are separate models. I enjoy the pace and the unfinished nature of them. I have always been passionate about art but am uncomfortable with the hyper realistic or colour accurate.
I find the activity is great for exercising the drawing muscles and creative side of myself. It is a part of keeping my hand sketching strong and would love to be part or start any workplace club that explores it.
Woman in hedge
This drawings shows the model’s form and the main shadows in as little time as possible. Done with a group, we sat in a circle round her and she posed. Unable to see her face it was an good opportunity to focus on a side of the body I had not drawn often before and try and capture the tension in her back and arms as she held the position.
Person on sofa
This images was created with my partner as the model. I was helping him explore a creative side of himself. Focusing on lightness and darkness, I was trying to show how I unlearn the habit of drawing what I thought any one body part looks like and instead focused on the highlights and shadows it creates.
